In the year 1899 I was staying in the Adirondacks, under medical advice, because I was suffering from tuberculosis and had been told by my doctors that I could live in no other climate. After remaining there for a year I found I had gradually grown worse.

After suffering for many years I found that "man's extremity is God's opportunity," for a friend lent me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. On pages 109 and 110 of this precious book I came upon the wonderful statement that "the three great verities of Spirit, omnipotence, omnipresence, omniscience,—Spirit possessing all power, filling all space, constituting all Science,—contradict forever the belief that matter can be actual." On beginning to realize the truth of this statement, with the help of a practitioner I was quickly and permanently healed, and returned to the home where I had been told I could not live. Very many blessings have followed this healing.

I feel that it is a great privilege to be able to subscribe for all our literature. A copy of the Christian Science Sentinel was the first gift to me, and in turn I gave it to a woman who had been an invalid for many years, confined to a wheel chair. She too was healed, for this Sentinel opened her consciousness to the truth about God and man. The periodicals surely are needful to our Mother Church and all its branches. No higher concept of God's Word has been given to men than that which is contained in the writings of Mrs. Eddy. I am sincerely grateful for the better understanding of God which has come through our Leader's teachings.
