I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing...

I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing alone. I became a student of this beautiful religion because I knew from the very first hour that I attended a service in one of our churches that I had found God. Coming out of that beloved church the first time, I said to the friend who had led me there, "This is the religion I have been looking for." I shall never forget the great sense of love that was with me all the rest of that day.

From that time on I have never taken one drop of medicine. Christian Science treatment healed me of chronic constipation in about ten days' time. I had taken different medicines for this disorder at least once every twenty-four hours almost since birth. I was completely healed of this trouble through Christian Science. I have used no material means whatever for relief from sickness since this healing, which took place over four years ago. It has not been at all necessary since that I take thought of what I should eat. I eat what is put before me, and give thanks.

I have also been healed of the habit of smoking cigarettes. The thought came to me one day that as I was honest in my desire to overcome this habit, God would show me the way. Shortly afterward, while studying a Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly on the subject of "Matter," I was healed. Shortly after this healing I was given the opportunity to take up Christian Science nursing, something I had wanted to do for a long time.
