Recently I had a very beautiful healing through hearing a lecture on Christian Science. At one time, the need seeming urgent, I lent quite a large sum of money to a neighbor. After several months there seemed to be a very convincing case of dishonesty against this neighbor: he was not fulfilling his obligation, and was withholding receipts due me on money paid him for rents. Although I denied this evidence, I did it but half-heartedly; for I was still a doubting Thomas and full of fear. As a result of this wrong thinking, error was manifested in me as defective vision: a film had come across my left eye, and work as I might nearly two weeks passed and I had received no healing.
It was at this time I was privileged to hear the above-mentioned lecture. While listening to the old but ever new truths, I lost all sense of evil as real. I was cognizant only of God, good, and of His perfect man. Next morning I awakened to find I could see, and a little later the neighbor came to pay the money due me and give the receipts that had been withheld for four months.
I am grateful for these problems that come up to be solved: they are to me as rungs on the ladder that reaches to heaven. When we have reached the top (been tried and purified), we shall have attained to perfection, and "we shall see him as he is." I am indeed grateful for Christian Science.
