God the Source of All Power

What wonderful proofs every Christian finds, in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, of the infinite power of God! Still, in how small a degree have Christians, generally, accepted and made use of the ever operative and ever available divine Principle which gives to them, even as the disciples of Jesus were given, "power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease"!

Mrs. Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 271), "In Latin the word rendered disciple signifies student; and the word indicates that the power of healing was not a supernatural gift to those learners, but the result of their cultivated spiritual understanding of the divine Science, which their Master demonstrated by healing the sick and sinning." As in the study of any natural science we can demonstrate only that which we as students of that science have mastered, so in Christian Science we can prove that God is the only power only to the extent of our understanding of the demonstrable divine Principle, God.

To a student of Christian Science there came an early awakening to the realization that all available power comes from the one source, and that it is ceaselessly pouring forth from that source, which is God. An experience in the woods some years before was recalled, and brought the assurance of a never ceasing outpouring of good from God to man.
