[Written for the Sentinel]

Omnipotence

"Can matter drive Life, Spirit, hence,
And so defeat omnipotence?"
Can mortal mind destroy the plan
Which God designs for every man?
No! Power belongs to God alone;
His is the strength that saves His own.
No other power but His is true;
His is the love and mercy, too.

What, then, is there to separate?
Can height or depth, disease or hate,
Or life or death or aught remove
God's children from the love of Love?
Can what is past, or is to be,
Change for His sons Love's firm decree?
No! Over all that these infer,
Through Christ each is a conqueror.
