I began the study of Christian Science in 1919, seeking a religion of peace—anything that could heal my fear of death, for my former church affiliations had failed to do this. As I continued to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the Christian Science textbook, I am sorry to say I still doubted, and I asked God every day if Christian Science was the truth. I was very unexpectedly answered one morning when a voice seemed to ring out behind me, telling me what I wished to know. It illustrated the prophecy of Isaiah, "Thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it." As Thomas saw and believed, I heard and believed. I began at once to put into practice the rules of Christian Science; and every way I turned its bright promise, it became "Truth's prism and praise" (Science and Health, p. 558).

About this time I awoke to the fact that I was healed of inflammatory rheumatism, from which I had suffered for eighteen months. My little daughter, two years old, had diarrhea, and then influenza. At the end of a week I found in the Glossary to Science and Health (p. 582) that children are "the spiritual thoughts and representatives of Life, Truth, and Love." The influenza stopped suddenly, and the following morning action was natural and normal. She was healed. She has since been healed of measles, whooping cough, constipation, severe headaches, and many of the ills of childhood. I have been healed of antrum trouble, dengue fever, and physical ailments without a name. Divine Mind has been our only physician.

We are grateful for the loving help of practitioners to prove this truth. It has given me the right concept of God and of man's true relation to Him. It has taught me how to forgive and how to love my neighbor as myself. Space does not permit a full recounting of the blessings which we have received and are receiving every day from Christian Science. May my life attest my gratitude for this great truth.
