A few years ago, when kind friends called my attention to Christian Science, I was a wreck. A hip disease, from which I had been suffering since I was five years old, became so much worse that it was impossible for me to walk without the aid of a cane, and I could not sit down at all. I was never for a minute without great pain. According to several physicians my case was hopeless; even a renowned physician and the director of a large hospital explained to me that nothing more could be done; that every cent I spent was in vain. The only thing they could do was to give me a hypodermic injection when the pain was unbearable. To this was added sorrow over the loss of my only child—hence, a complete mental and physical breakdown.

I had been in the hospital twelve weeks. Attacks of gallstone and fever would not yield, so there was no prospect of my being able to leave the hospital. In our great extremity my husband asked a Christian Science practitioner for help, which was at once lovingly given. After a short time the fever yielded, and I was able to be taken home; but still I was not able even to walk about my room without a cane. I was obliged to lie down nearly all day. I then began to read a great deal in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy; my husband also began to work as we are taught in Christian Science, and with the further loving help of the practitioner I was healed in a few weeks. My hip bone, which had projected from my side, went back into its place quite suddenly. I can now fulfill my household duties again, can sit down, and can even go out without a cane.

I am sincerely grateful to our Father-Mother God for this wonderful proof of ever present divine Love. I also wish to express my gratitude to that noble woman, our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who revealed the Christ, Truth, to us. My sincerest gratitude goes out, too, to the practitioner for her loving help, and for the great patience she had with me. I give the honor to God.
