The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

The Hague, Holland (First Church).

Lecturer: Peter V. Ross; introduced by Dr. Cornelia G. H. Japikse, who said:—

Great numbers of people have gained health and strength through the faithful application of what Christian Science teaches. Especially great is the number of those who have found this teaching efficacious in the various difficulties and problems of life. It has brought comfort to those in sorrow, happiness instead of grief, joy instead of care. It is indeed a religion of rejoicing, because by teaching us the truth about Life and Love it has given us a firm foundation to build upon. One of its greatest blessings is that it relieves us of worry. Instead of the constant torture of worrying about difficulties, long before these may even present themselves, it brings us the certainty that all our needs will be met at the right moment. It gives force and meaning to the injunction, "Peace, be still," inasmuch as it assures us that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need," as Mrs. Eddy says on page 494 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."No wonder that those who have experienced the benefits of Christian Science feel deep gratitude towards this religion of love and harmony, and to the noble woman, Mary Baker Eddy, who rediscovered the new-old truth and gave it to the world.
