I shall be grateful to have you convey through your columns to your reading audience that the "announcer at WHAP" is not a Christian Scientist and that he and those associated with him are not authorized by the Christian Science church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. In your recent issue it was said that "Christian Scientists control Station WHAP," and my purpose is to correct this misapprehension. [From this station have come some attacks on a certain religious denomination.] To attack another form of religion is quite at variance with the ethics and teachings of Christian Science. Mary Baker Eddy, Founder of the Christian Science movement and its only Leader, has written for the guidance of her followers in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 444), "Students are advised by the author to be charitable and kind, not only towards differing forms of religion and medicine, but to those who hold these differing opinions." And again, in a letter to the New York Herald, Mrs. Eddy said in reply to Mark Twain, "Christian Scientists have no quarrel with Protestants, Catholics, or any other sect" (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 303). For your further information may I say that the only radiocasting activities of Christian Science churches in New York city are of a Sunday service at eleven in the morning and on every Monday evening of an authorized lecture by a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship of The Mother Church, through Station WMCA.
