Winged Acorn

A writer in your recent issue, with a strong medical bias, seems disturbed because a considerable number of persons in the United States, and particularly in California, dare and are permitted to exercise their moral and legal prerogative in choosing the form of treatment they have found to be the most efficacious in recovering and preserving health. Without specifically naming Christian Science, the critic makes certain references intended to include it among those systems which he berates and brands as humbugs and swindles. In lauding modern medical diagnosis and in condemning those who, depending on prayer, eschew diagnosis, the critic evidently overlooks the fact that Christ Jesus, the infallible Physician, never diagnosed a case medically and never failed to heal quickly and thoroughly. At the same time Christian Scientists have no quarrel with any system of healing or religion different from their own.
