I have hesitated to give my testimony and to let my lips...

I have hesitated to give my testimony and to let my lips show forth my praise, until I knew a problem had been worked out; but now, the victory being won, I feel I must write of these joys of the Spirit.

Mrs. Eddy states in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 322): "The sharp experiences of belief in the supposititious life of matter, as well as our disappointments and ceaseless woes, turn us like tired children to the arms of divine Love. Then we begin to learn Life in divine Science." It was at this point that Christian Science was presented to me. After much erroneous thinking was overcome, I was healed of a trouble that many physicians had said only an operation would permanently cure. I too had been a Hagar, a bondwoman to the material senses, and I was a wanderer in this desert, searching for the stream of living water. I had lost faith and hope in God and man.

With my healing came the spiritual awakening, for I had caught a faint glimpse of the Christ, Truth, that makes us free. In the home for twelve years past I have seen many of the ills that "flesh is heir to" destroyed by this truth. Some of these were ptomaine poisoning, headaches, fevers, measles, skin irritations, tuberculosis, mastoiditis, stomach troubles, broken and dislocated bones, lack, limitation, sin, lust, and drunkenness of many years' duration. I can never cease to thank and praise God for these many blessings, and to rejoice hourly that our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, had the moral courage to show to this benighted world how to gain life instead of death.
