The latter part of the winter of 1918 found me in a discordant condition mentally and physically. It was then that I knelt in tears, trying to pray to God, as I thought we should pray; but the prayer seemed of no avail. About a year from that time Christian Science was presented to us.

It was because of a heart attack from which my little son suffered that we turned to Christian Science. My husband went to a neighbor, who proved to be a loving Christian Scientist. She came back with him, and while she was telling me of wonderful healings, I forgot my son for a few moments; for this was such a beautiful revelation to my hungry heart. When I turned to my son, he was healed. We then had many other healings, of pneumonia, influenza, salt rheum, constipation, and severe attacks of neuralgia. A year from the time Christian Science was presented to us a great calamity fell on us. Through the help of the loving practitioner and Christian Science friends we, however, were able to press on, knowing that Christian Science is the truth and the only way.

Through the above experience and the great struggle in overcoming sorrow, I feel I have gained a clearer sense of what God is, and of His creation as spiritual and indestructible. My husband and I both have had wonderful healings since, among them that of blood poisoning which, it seemed, would end material existence. As our thoughts are spiritualized, we are becoming more harmonious in every way. Words fail to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for us—more for the spiritual uplift and comfort than the physical healings; and I am also grateful for every channel through which Christian Science works. We are grateful to our loving Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who went through deep waters to give us this truth.
