Jesus said, "Freely ye have received, freely give."
Jesus said, "Freely ye have received, freely give." I came to Christian Science seven years ago, after nineteen years of constant suffering under the doctors' care, going from one physician to another. All were noble, kind, considerate men, doing all they could to help me and trying hard to ease my suffering. I had a blood disease of years' standing, considered incurable. I was to have a major operation, but the doctors said my heart would not stand it. For nineteen years I never knew what a good meal was. I was always hungry, but dared not eat half an egg, I would suffer so. The doctor said I had cancer of the stomach.
I suffered so much that I prayed for death. Seven years ago I was not able to turn from one side to the other. I lay this way for twenty days, given up by the doctors. Then a dear neighbor told me to try Christian Science. My husband bought me "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I was not able to hold the book, but my husband opened it for me and laid it beside me on the bed. I began to read at the beginning. I begged to be left alone, as I was in such pain. I read for two hours, as I had from the start been able to turn each page as I went along. In two hours I got up on my feet—the first time in twenty days—healed, and have been in perfect health ever since. Cherries and strawberries, which for nineteen years I could not think of eating, I eat now with pleasure.
Christian Science is making me free from the "law of sin and death." Try as I may I never can find words to thank God for this wonderful truth. I only want to live near God, so as to help my fellow-men, to let my light so shine that they too may get the blessing and live under the new commandment that Jesus gave: "Love one another, as I have loved you." All that I am to-day, a healthy, happy woman, I owe to Christian Science.
