In a recent issue of the Star there are some kindly references to Mrs. Eddy and her work. I should be glad, however, to be allowed to correct an error as to Mrs. Eddy's relations with the doctors. Mrs. Eddy was kindly disposed towards the medical profession, and she insisted that her students should be the same. The following news item appeared in The Christian Science Journal for January, 1911: "Saturday night she [Mrs. Eddy] quietly fell asleep, and those around her could at first hardly realize that she had gone. Her thought was clear until the last and she left no final messages. No physician was in attendance, but she had the assistance of the students who comprised her household." On page 384 of "The Life of Mary Baker Eddy," Sibyl Wilbur states, "Dr. West, after the usual investigation, pronounced death due to natural causes and issued the customary certificate."
