True Happiness

Those who have had the privilege of studying the works of Mrs. Eddy have much reason for gratitude. This is strikingly true of the understanding to be gained thereby of what constitutes true happiness. Students of Christian Science are learning that genuine happiness is spiritual; that it does not depend upon material things or upon human association. God made man complete when He made him in His image; therefore it is impossible for man to lack any good thing, or to find satisfaction in anything which God did not make.

Our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, teaches that God is Spirit, and that man, as His individual idea, reflects that which belongs to God. It is a doctrine of Christian churches that God fills all space; and this being true, is it not logically correct to say that all good that is spiritual is man's by reflection at the present time? This is the truth; and it follows that we may experience the peace and the joy which accompany the unfoldment of the fact to our consciousness, to the extent that we are obedient to the law of Love, the governing Principle of all creation.

It is necessary for us to close the door of our consciousness to the illusions of material sense which clamor for admission, knowing as we do that a place cannot be filled with contrary things at the same time. If there were reality in sorrow or lack, divine Mind would not be the only creator; but since He is the only creator, we know that these are simply false beliefs, without substance or real presence.
