In the fall of 1916, after experiencing, as I believed, every ill "that flesh is heir to," I gave up religion as found in the denominations I had tried to embrace, and turned to the Bible for comfort, beginning with the New Testament. When the four Gospels had been read, a friend one day said, "When you are ready to be freed from all of your troubles I have something to offer you." Thus was Christian Science brought to my attention.

Soon thereafter I called on a practitioner and purchased a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. After I had read it for a few weeks, glasses which had been worn for twenty-five years were laid aside. My eyes were completely healed, although the trouble had been pronounced incurable. One discord after another disappeared, and a sense of limitation also vanished. I had found the religion which I had long been seeking, a practical, everyday Christianity, which was ever with me.

Words cannot express my gratitude for this great light, which is shining for all; for the loving help of the friend who brought this truth to me, and for the many practitioners who have helped me on the way. I am also most grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for the privilege of teaching in the Sunday school.
