[Original testimony in German]
In the few years we have been adherents of Christian Science...
In the few years we have been adherents of Christian Science my wife and I have experienced so many healings and blessings that it would be possible for us to express publicly our gratitude to God for His great goodness, over and over again.
My wife was healed of gallstones; our son of a severe attack of the grippe and a slight attack of appendicitis; our daughter of an acute kidney disease, which physicians had pronounced incurable; and I of a scalded foot. All these healings took place in a short time. I should especially like to mention a healing which took place after meeting with an accident. On climbing on to a summer house about nine feet high, I became dizzy and fell backwards to the ground, where I remained unconscious until neighbors found me and informed my family, who took me home and put me to bed. The physician who was called in diagnosed the case as concussion of the brain, a sprained back, and a hemorrhage in my back. We did not follow any of his directions, but asked a practitioner for Christian Science help, which was at once most lovingly given. After regaining consciousness I suffered terrible pain; but I clung to the truth that I could not be separated from God. The third day the pain abated; on the fourth day I could get up; and on the seventh I could dress and undress alone, whereas before it had been necessary for two people to help me. After eleven days I was healed and could walk to the Sunday service and back, which took thirty-five minutes each way. I am sincerely grateful for God's gracious help, and for the quick healing.
"Call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me." The truth of these words I have indeed experienced. My endeavor and that of my family is, and ever will be, to learn more and more of Christian Science, and to know more about the truth which makes us free. I also wish to express my gratitude to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who has smoothed and pointed out the way to Truth.—August Bertram, Magdeburg, Germany.
