"The redeemed should be happier than the elect," Mrs. Eddy...

"The redeemed should be happier than the elect," Mrs. Eddy tells us in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 229). And in the Bible we read, "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so;" also, "The redeemed of the Lord ... shall obtain gladness and joy." I came into Christian Science from the ranks of professional materia medica, a regularly graduated physician. I brought with me a back out of place. Because I was unwilling to give credit where credit is due,—to acknowledge Mrs. Eddy, because of her being a woman,—I did not achieve my own place in harmony for eight years. I could have had it the first day, as witness the replacement of a dislocated arm, through the understanding of a dear worker, in one treatment.

"The Angel which redeemed me from all evil," from limitation, from anger, ill health, sorrow, is the great gift (open to all through Christian Science) of being able to recognize, appreciate, and acknowledge publicly the good work of others. As this gift is cultivated in daily gratitude to God for the work of His Son, Christ Jesus, and His servant, Mary Baker Eddy, a blessed sense of the fullness of the stature of manhood in Christ Jesus appears, and is made manifest in harmonious human conditions.
