Poem September 4, 1926 Issue

Victory

CLITHEROE C. HENDY

Risen with Christ, in holy thought abiding;
Freed from the law, we no more fear its chiding;
Risen with him, a blissful elevation:
In thought renewed we find a full salvation.

Cleansed and free from false beliefs appearing,
Triumphantly we see the goal is nearing:
God's children we, from earliest creation,
Unstained, and free—a joyous, holy nation!

Kingdom of good, created for our using,
Fearless we take, nor fear our own abusing,
Truth's two-edged sword, the weapon all-victorious;
Praises to God we sing for conquest glorious!

Fear we no more; with love our hearts o'erflowing,
His joy we feel, outcome of perfect knowing.
The truth, he said, would prove God's children free.
This word of power, he saith, I give to thee!
