Before I became acquainted with Christian Science, I...
Before I became acquainted with Christian Science, I was full of false human beliefs and did not know how to get rid of them. But when I began to study this Science faithfully and diligently, my consciousness was illuminated by the influx of God's spiritual ideas, before which the false beliefs gradually gave way as darkness disappears at the approach of light, with the resultant healing of many ailments.
In December, 1915, a very severe cold attacked me with cough and catarrh. I applied my understanding of Christian Science to that abnormal condition, which was, in a short time, replaced by a natural and normal state. During many years previous to that experience, I had had colds several times in a year, none of the seasons being exceptions. Since then, however, I have not had this trouble. That I owe my healing and protection to the efficacious power of Christian Science goes without saying.
In 1916, I was confronted with nervous prostration and became subject to insomnia, which was occasioned by seeming sounds in and great nervous pressure about the head. A suffocative sensation and a fear of death accompanied that disease during several weeks. I treated myself to the best of my understanding of Christian Science and got some help from a Scientist, until the illness was completely removed.
