About seven and a half years ago, I was seized with an attack of what would have been pronounced acute neuritis, which affected every part of my body, but particularly my limbs, so that I could not walk without support; and even then with great difficulty. I had only Christian Science treatment. My recovery was slow, and for some months I was taken to church in a wheel chair; but for the past six years I have been able to go about again unattended.
I wish to tell of another healing. Some time ago I found I was unable to read, and upon investigation discovered that the lens had dropped off the bifocal of the right eyeglass I had been using. As I had not been to an optician for five years I thought my glasses might require changing; so I went to see one the next morning. The left eye had become very much inflamed. After a careful examination he pronounced the trouble glaucoma (hardening of the eyeball), and said he would try treatment, but if that failed, I would have to be operated upon. He prescribed a new lens for the right eye; but I was not able to read the largest letter on the chart with the left. I did not return to him, but sought the aid of a Christian Science practitioner at once; and refrained from speaking of the condition even to my children. After two or three treatments, the inflammation subsided; and after two weeks I was able to discern the word "God" in the Bible and in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I am grateful to state that I can now read and see as well as before.
I am grateful that my children and grandchildren are in Christian Science; grateful for our Journal, Sentinel, and Monitor; grateful to God and to the loving practitioners who have so patiently worked for me; and grateful to our revered Leader, who gave us this demonstrable truth.
