When I first learned of Christian Science I was a sick...
When I first learned of Christian Science I was a sick and unhappy woman. Although my physician did everything possible from a medical standpoint to relieve me, my condition remained unchanged; and he finally dismissed me, saying he could do nothing more.
At this very time it was proposed to me that I attend a Wednesday evening testimony meeting at a Christian Science church. I was told that many persons had been completely healed through the study and application of Christian Science, and that I would probably hear numerous persons who attended this meeting tell of the unlimited blessings that had come to them thereby. As I was willing to try anything that might mean even temporary relief, I attended such a meeting on Wednesday of the following week, eager to hear from those whose physical conditions had been improved.
The comfort and peace that seemed to reign within the walls of this church made me feel that I was in an atmosphere heretofore all unknown to me, and soon I was listening to the testimony of a woman who had been afflicted just as I was. Immediately I seemed to know that if it was possible for her to be healed, it was also possible for me; that God would not heal one and leave another to suffer, and that it really rested with me whether I should remain sick or be restored to health. This fact impressed me with such a degree of certainty that when I left the meeting I found myself a changed woman, freed from the affliction that had had its grip on me for so long a time.
