It is ten years since I first turned to Christian Science for healing. I had just left the consulting room of a specialist and was realizing to the full the meaning of "man's extremity." That evening a sister brought me a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and said, "Do you not think you had better see a Christian Science practitioner?"
I shall never forget my first visit to a practitioner's office, and the anxious questions on my part: "Does Christian Science really heal? Can it heal me?" Her steadfast reply was, "Certainly it does, and can." I left that office with the realization of "God's opportunity." That night I read over and over again from the chapter entitled "Creation" in Science and Health (p. 259) the statement, "Immortal ideas, pure, perfect, and enduring, are transmitted by the divine Mind through divine Science, which corrects error with truth and demands spiritual thoughts, divine concepts, to the end that they may produce harmonious results."
I went regularly for treatment for about three months, at the end of which time the trouble (a tumor on the side of the neck) completely disappeared. The final disappearance was accompanied by hemorrhages. When these attacks stopped, the tumor had completely gone, and I felt perfectly well. Also during this period of treatment the eyes were healed of astigmatism, and glasses were no longer needed. Soon after this healing I was medically passed for the temporary holding of an official appointment.
