The True Model

On page 247 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy, its author, has written, "Immortal men and women are models of spiritual sense, drawn by perfect Mind and reflecting those higher conceptions of loveliness which transcend all material sense."

The untrue model seems continually to be presenting itself to us in our daily work in various forms. The belief of life, substance, and intelligence in matter leads directly into erroneous thinking and action. Sin, sickness, and death are the results of the belief that matter has the power to create and to destroy life. The Bible teaches that man is created in the image and likeness of his Maker, God. Therefore, since man is the idea of God, reflecting Life, substance, and intelligence spiritually, we are enabled to detect the false models of so-called mortal mind and to destroy them. We should keep our thought free and open, in order to be receptive to the truth about God and man.

True consciousness is always filled with thoughts of good, is always reflecting God, who is Life, Truth, and Love. By acknowledging these good thoughts and putting them into constant practice, we find that a great change comes about in our lives. We find ourselves expressing health, mentally as well as physically. Our business is conducted in a calmer and more harmonious way, because we are trusting more in God, who is our intelligence, having the sweet assurance of being guided to do the right thing at the right time. True success in our business undertakings is the result. We are able to help those who may call upon us for aid, and to bring about many demonstrations of healing, because our thought is pure and free. This is proof of what Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 201): "Truth makes a new creature, in whom old things pass away and 'all things are become new.'"
