I am glad to return blessings to God for the good which has been given to me through His Science. I am happy to be able to express some gratitude to Him for the understanding, as revealed in Christian Science, that Life never changes. I hope that this testimony may comfort other struggling hearts.

A severe attack of rheumatic fever and St. Vitus's dance, over ten years ago, left me with heart difficulty. Several of the best doctors made plain assertions that any sharp exertion or laborious work would cause serious trouble. After I was able to walk about again, I was still constantly beset with the fear of death. I left home for a warmer climate, and in this sunny land I knew one family only. They were Christian Scientists. At that time I sneered at their religion of healing. Very soon after I had settled down (the heat did my heart no good) a second attack, long feared, of rheumatic fever left me with a mind filled with gloom and fear. I left the hospital a physical wreck, and with heart and spirit almost broken.

The Christian Science family invited me to visit them. I accepted, and was advised to have treatment from a practitioner. Then my life truly commenced. I was ushered into the realm of reality. Minor discords having been overcome and optimism regained in three months through help and study, I then left to take up farming again as an occupation. I carried three possessions with me: a childlike trust in God; "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and the old fear of the heart failing; but the loving practitioner had plated the seed of Truth well in my consciousness.
