I wish to add my gratitude to that of the many others...

I wish to add my gratitude to that of the many others who are raising their voices in praise to God for Christian Science; and it is my sincere desire that my experience may help others as I in turn have been helped by the testimonies I have heard and read. It was through reading a testimony that I became convinced that it was wrong to smoke. Although several practitioners had worked for me at different times trying to rid me of this habit, I had been passive in my own efforts and was waiting for it to leave me. After reading the testimony referred to, I saw that I must do something, too. It was then it became clear to me that it was fear which was claiming to hold me, and I saw also that the work was mine to face the fear of giving up the endeavor. After a mental battle of an hour or two, I decided to be true to our Leader's teachings and to make the stand, cost what it might. It is with gratitude I can testify that the courage was given me to go on to victory; and I have learned that there is no real pleasure in smoking.

Christian Science has healed me of the necessity of wearing glasses. Once when farsightedness seemed to be in evidence, the clear and calm realization of God's presence destroyed the seeming evidence instantly; and this understanding has since been very helpful in meeting other conditions. Christian Science has healed me of influenza, an ulcerated tooth, ptomaine poisoning, and a bunion in one treatment by myself. With the help of practitioners accidents, business problems, and bad habits have been overcome. While there remains much to be done, it is with gratitude that I know that "hitherto hath the Lord helped" me, and that He will continue to help me.

On my first visit to a Christian Science church on a Wednesday evening, it seemed to me that too much was made of Mrs. Eddy. Since then I have stood at what seemed to be the end, and but for Christian Science, which she labored so long and so unselfishly to present in its purity and potency, there is no question in my thought but that I would have passed on. So it is but natural that we are grateful to Mrs. Eddy, even as we are grateful to Christ Jesus for his unselfish labor of love.
