In your issue of recent date a correspondent objects to my statement that the teaching of Christian Science is in strict accordance with that of Christ Jesus. This may arise from the fact that the views of Christian Scientists as to the correct interpretation of the Scriptures and the spiritual import of their teaching may differ in some respects from those held by members of other churches. Christian Science teaches that baptism is much more than a mere ceremonial observance; that it is, as Mrs. Eddy writes on page 35 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "a purification from all error." Christian Scientists find that the Master's promise, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," is being fulfilled, and are proving that Christian Science is a religion through the understanding of which sin may be vanquished, sorrow turned into joy, and the sick made whole.
