With the hope of encouraging others to press forward, as...
With the hope of encouraging others to press forward, as other testimonies have encouraged me to do, I relate an experience through which our two-year-old son recently passed. He has heard the truth sung, spoken, and read ever since he came to our home, and great was my joy to see these efforts bear fruit. A swelling upon his neck appeared one morning. His daddy was at home endeavoring to overcome an illness, so I thought it wise not to give him any more of a problem and did not mention the child's condition. I applied my understanding of Christian Science diligently, and when I put him to bed the difficulty seemed to have gone. I told his daddy that evening; and I recall that I told it rather boastingly, as though I myself had done something. The next morning the swelling appeared again, larger than ever. I set to work once more; and although the child was almost normal, the swelling remained. I wanted very much to overcome this by my own understanding; but, after working a number of days without apparent result, I decided it would be obedience to call a practitioner. I called the practitioner twice, but could not get her.
Both my husband and I then studied and worked and prayed very earnestly, and the child responded beautifully; but the swelling did not leave. Later I called a practitioner, who lovingly took up treatment for us. She said we had been working correctly, and that the case for the child was really met, but that his parents needed some help. After two days of loving help from the practitioner the swelling entirely left.
We are sincerely grateful for Christian Science.
