The Lectures

Chicago, Illinois (Eighth Church).

Lecturer: John W. Doorly; introduced by Miss Margaret Morrison, who said:—

No question is so agitating men to-day as is the question of how to procure for the world permanent peace. Every right-minded individual, every civilized nation, is working, praying, that there may be war no more upon the earth. Organizations are formed in all parts of the world in the endeavor to promote peace. Statesmen of all nations are bringing to the solution of this question their highest ideals, their most profound thinking, their keenest discernment. In the midst of all this seeking and praying, there is, for those who have ears to hear and eyes to see, one sure, unfailing way to peace. It is the way shown to us centuries ago by Jesus of Nazareth and rediscovered to the world in this age by Mary Baker Eddy,—the way of applied scientific Christianity as revealed in Christian Science. For over fourteen years Christian Science has been to me the way of peace through every problem of discord, whether seemingly great or small. It has brought me "through the valley of the shadow of death." It has been to me life, health, joy, salvation. So, to the nation and to the individual, Christian Science is bringing to-day the old angelic message that came to the shepherds in the fields of Judea, "On earth peace, good will toward men."
