"Not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon"
To mankind death seems to be such an irrefutable fact that even those to whom the truth about God and man has been revealed through Christian Science often assign to the belief excessive importance. And because the destruction of the "last enemy" is not clearly enough recognized as a possibility here and now, mortals seem to cling to disease and sin with stubborn tenacity.
As we recognize through Christian Science the spiritual laws of Truth, Life, and Love as the only real healing and redeeming forces, the so-called mortal laws of matter lose their seeming consistency and permanence, and disappear as mortal mind completely yields to the divine Mind.
Mortals look continually to others for help in every attack of error, instead of realizing that man's existence is in God, and confidently knowing that "it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure." Individual mental work faithfully and persistently done would bring us nearer to what Mrs. Eddy calls "the spiritual ultimate of all things" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 485). And what a blessed work it is with the victory of Truth as the result,—this work of denying all false material or corporeal evidence, with honesty and assiduity and the certainty of the predominance of good; for spiritual sense alone testifies to the perfect, immortal, Godlike man, who is not material, but spiritual. Verily Jesus' assurance, "My yoke is easy, and my burden is light," finds its justification in Christian Science practice, when, like Jesus, we prove that we are at-one with the Father.
