In 1921, I was taken very ill with a severe stomach trouble and the breaking down of my whole nervous system, being confined to my bed for three months. I tried medical and osteopathic treatment, but was steadily growing worse, until I became a mere shadow with hardly strength enough to take nourishment. After a while the doctor pronounced my case a malignant trouble of the stomach, and gave me from two to three weeks to live under opiates.
It was then that my niece, hearing of a healing which a friend of hers had received in Christian Science, asked me if I would not try it, and I readily consented. In less than one hour a practitioner was standing by my bedside, with such a sweet, smiling face that it seemed to me like the face of an angel. Then she spoke to me so tenderly of God's love and healing power, and of what He could do for me; of the wonderful woman, Mary Baker Eddy, who gave us the spiritual interpretation of His Word that all who read may understand. I surely had an instantaneous healing, for I began to feel better immediately. Indeed, I felt like a new person. My niece on coming into my room stood amazed at the marvelous change that had taken place in me. In three days I was up and about the house.
In about one week the doctor, coming in for what he termed a friendly call, was very much surprised to find me looking so much better, and insisted on making an examination of my stomach. He could find no soreness and no trace of the malignant trouble. With the exception of a slight cold, which was quickly overcome through Christian Science, I have not been sick since. I can eat anything I want, and my food does not distress me in the least.
