It would be impossible to express in words the deep and...
It would be impossible to express in words the deep and sincere gratitude I feel for all that Christian Science has done for me and is doing for the world. My life has been transformed by it, not only physically, but also mentally and spiritually. I first became interested in Christian Science about fifteen years ago, at the instigation of a dear friend, a Scientist, with whom I was associated in business. She handed me a copy of a lecture to read. While I was totally unconscious that my interest had been aroused, I could not help recalling from time to time the wonderful truths contained in the lecture; and I shall never cease to be grateful to this friend for the interest manifested in my behalf. Prior to that time my attitude towards Christian Science had been antagonistic, due solely to erroneous statements which I had heard in regard to it. This has impressed upon me very forcibly the importance of going to a reliable source for information upon any subject before forming an opinion or expressing an opinion to others.
Some months subsequent to the above experience I procured a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, not because I felt the need of physical healing, but because I was reaching out unconsciously, as I now see it, for a satisfying religion,—one that I could rely upon at all times and under all circumstances, feeling that my prayers were not in vain. Just about this time, however, I was afforded an opportunity to prove its dependability from a physical standpoint. While I had never been subjected to any serious illness, I had, practically all my life, been a victim of chills and malaria, which had finally reached such a state that even a long drive would bring on one of these attacks, from which it would require days or weeks to recuperate, with the use of many material remedies, which I never dared forego for fear of the apparently harmful consequences. At this particular time I had been suffering in this manner for about a week, and as a result was in such a weakened condition that I could scarcely walk across the floor. As the time approached for the crisis to come on, I decided to discontinue all material remedies and rely solely upon Christian Science to help me, with the result that I was instantaneously healed, and walked about two miles that evening. I have never had the slightest symptom of this trouble since, although I lead a much more active life than I did before.
My health is perfect. It is very seldom that any discordant condition arises; and when it does, it is quickly and completely overcome through Christian Science. Severe headaches and colds, which were of frequent occurrence and long duration, have been healed instantaneously; and a severe burn on my right hand, to the bone, was overcome so effectually that after a few minutes' work in Science the pain was entirely relieved, and from that time on I used the hand more than usual in attending to my daily duties. No material remedy of any description was applied. I experienced no pain whatever, after the first few moments, and it healed without the slightest scar. Christian Science meets our every need when rightly applied.
