With a heart filled with gratitude to God I give my testimony...
With a heart filled with gratitude to God I give my testimony of the many blessings I have received since Christian Science came into my life. It found me a physical and moral wreck. I did not wish to live. The first time a dear practitioner came to my bedside and brought with her the healing truth, I was raised from darkness into dawn; I saw a great light, which has never since left me. Grief and loneliness were dispelled by the realization of God's omnipresence and of His love and protecting care. The physical healing of many ills followed. I can never express in the language of poor humanity my gratitude for these and other healings experienced by me and by other members of my family.
During the war my son, a schoolboy at the time, had a growth in the groin. It was pronounced incurable and pernicious by three physicians and our family doctor, and they said it would increase in size unless operated on at once. My husband, who was not a Scientist and was very much afraid of surgical operations, became worried. I suggested Christian Science, and he consented to try it. I took the boy to see a practitioner, who talked to him for a while and gave him a treatment, telling him not to look at the growth and to read from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. My son knew very little about Christian Science, but was obedient. A few days later he was attacked with a feverish cold, and at my husband's wish the family doctor was called in. After prescribing, he inquired about the growth, adding, "No doubt it has grown bigger." The boy put his hand to feel for it and with a look of surprise turned to me and said, in almost a whisper, "Mummie, it's gone." I can never forget my joy at this wonderful proof of God's infinite love at a time when war and havoc seemed to suggest discouragement.
For this healing and many other demonstrations of the healing truth I am deeply grateful to God, to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and to our beloved and revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.—(Mrs.) Giulia Hassan, Paris, France.
