[Written for the Sentinel]

"Love is our refuge"*

How great God's love! Love is the power divine
That men reflect when they obey God's law:
It fills the heart that Godward doth incline;
It is His gift whose power and peace doth draw
All hearts to Him who dwells in boundless light.
Lord, may this love enrich my heart this night!

Love gives us peace; coheirs with Him we are;
Love's prayers are all fulfilled ere yet conceived;
'T is God at hand, and not a God afar.
He who in meekness asks, will be received:
No secret this—to all His children known;
If pondered deep, 't will in our lives be shown.
