The Lectures

London, England (Twelfth Church).—Introducing John J. Flinn, a Christian Science lecturer, to his audience, Mrs. Grace M. Packer said in part:—

We know that all mankind is seeking a better state of things. Efforts are being made in every direction to lessen the misery and unrest that is in the world. The only permanent solution to these problems is for humanity to gain a correct and practical understanding of God. As our Master, Christ Jesus, centuries ago, was able, through his understanding of God, to offer to humanity healing and peace, so to-day Christian Science is here with healing in its wings. It teaches us that God is infinite Love,—Love that is universal and impartial; and those who are faithful to its teachings reflect this Love. Our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, says in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 4), "A genuine Christian Scientist loves Protestant and Catholic, D.D. and M.D.,—loves all who love God, good;" and we all know from daily experience that it is only as we learn to love that we have freedom and happiness in our lives. It is this understanding of divine Love that will free the world from the fetters of sin and disease.

Before I knew of Christian Science I was full of fear,—fear of everything, and especially for the well-being of those I loved and for children generally. I never could understand why children should suffer, if God were really Love. Now I know that suffering is not a necessity. I have experienced many beautiful healings, both physical and moral, through the application of the teachings of Christian Science.
