I am Content

To prove His perfect gifts!
It is enough to-day
To journey one good honest league
Upon a worthy way;
To see and heed the signal He has sent,
I am content, I am content.

To prove the power of thought
The Father's love bestows,
The energy, the strength to use
That from His bounty flows,
To know the flush of health that He has sent,
I am content, I am content.

To see a smiling world
Beneath a shining dawn,
With fields and woods and crystal streams—
Enough to look upon,
Enough to see such wealth in wisdom blent;
I am content, I am content.

Enough to claim what is
Already richly mine,
To strive my highest and my best
Whereto His laws incline,
To claim the dow'r of man's divine descent;
I am content, I am content.
