It is now seven years since I took up the study of Christian Science; and as I read the many helpful and uplifting testimonies in the periodicals and enjoy them so much, I feel that I too should try to show my appreciation and express my gratitude in this way, hoping that in so doing I may be able to encourage and help some one.
I did not take up the study of Christian Science for physical healing; but thanks be to God and to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, as my thoughts became purer, and as I gained a better understanding of God and His idea, the physical healing came without any trouble. I have had many beautiful demonstrations, for which I am indeed very grateful. My first healing was that of chronic constipation of years' standing. I have also been freed from almost constant headache; and during the influenza period I was healed of that disease with help from a Christian Science practitioner. I have also had numerous demonstrations for my little boy, who is almost eight years old and has never had a dose of medicine, although he has passed through whooping cough, measles, and other children's diseases. I am so thankful to the faithful practitioners, as well as to our Leader. Most of all, I give thanks to God for this wonderful revelation of Truth to this age.
At the time when I became interested in Christian Science I was an active member of a denominational church, trying to do my duty in every way possible; but, try as I might, I failed to find the peace and satisfaction I was looking for. To-day I rejoice to say that I have found that peace "which passeth all understanding" and the truth that makes men free, promised by Christ Jesus. My desire is to grow, and daily to learn more of this great truth, that I may be able to help others. The words of that wonderful poem by our Leader express my desire (Poems, p. 13):—
