Excerpts from the Annual Report of the Trustees of The Christian Science Benevolent Association

This is fifth annual meeting of The Christian Science Benevolent Association since the sanatorium has been in operation. Each annual meeting has reported steady progress; and the year 1923 is no exception. The most important construction work of the year has been the erection and equipping of the new dining room. The kitchen and storage space has been extended; better refrigerating facilities have been provided; and a larger ice-making plant has been installed in the extension.

The need of more buildings, not only for the guests, but for employees, has been felt during the past year. During much of the year the buildings used for guests have been filled to capacity; and for a large part of this time guests already accepted were awaiting word that they could be accommodated. At all times the house has been comfortably filled, the average daily number of guests and visiting friends being about 140. The following tabulation indicates the number of guests at the sanatorium in 1923 as compared with 1922:—

Total number accommodated from Jan. 1, 1922,
to Dec. 31, 1922 ... 1338
Total number accommodated from Jan. 1, 1923,
to Dec. 31, 1923 ... 1725
