The Lectures
Sioux City, Iowa (Second Church).—When introducing Judge Frederick C. Hill, a Christian Science lecturer, to his audience, Harry M. Graber made the following remarks:—
Jesus once said, when comforting his disciples, that when the spirit of Truth should come it would lead us into all truth. Christian Scientists know and understand that the spirit of Truth has come and is being revealed to this age through the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Christian Scientists know that this spirit of Truth has come, because through the understanding of the teachings of Christian Science they are able to do many of the wonderful works which Jesus did, and which he said those that believed on him—that is, understood his teachings—would do. In my own personal experience, I have been healed of disease through Christian Science when all other means had failed. I have been healed of the tobacco habit and many other sins simply by reading the textbook above referred to. I have been healed of infidelity. In my earlier days I was of a very religious nature, but when I began to think for myself I became an infidel and turned away from all religion, and did not enter a church for ten years. I could not continue to believe in the God I had been taught to believe in,—a God who sends sickness, sin, and death upon His Children.
I had not gone far in the study of Christian Science when I began to learn of God as universal divine Love, who changes not and sends no sin, sickness, nor death upon His children. Here was the God I could love and worship. So my entire thinking was changed, and a much greater sense of health, happiness, and success than I had ever before experienced was the result. I am grateful for these blessings.
