I am most grateful for Christian Science and for what it...
I am most grateful for Christian Science and for what it has done and is doing for me every day; and I am grateful to God for Mrs. Eddy, who has made plain to us Christ Jesus' teachings, so that we may live and use them.
I have been studying Christian Science for sixteen years, and have had many proofs of its healing power. I did not come into Christian Science through healing,—not that I did not need it, for truly I did. A lady gave me a copy of The Christian Science Journal to read, and in it I found much I had been looking for. My first healing in Christian Science was of tonsillitis, and it has been permanent.
Another healing was of one of my eyes. My mother was living with me at that time and was very much opposed to what she thought Christian Science to be. To her the eye looked serious, and she kept saying, "If you don't get a doctor you will lost the sight of your eye." It seemed the only thing to do; so we telephoned for a doctor. He pronounced the trouble rheumatism of the eye, and left drops for the eye and tablets for me to take. I used them, but the eye seemed to get worse. My mother saw I was suffering, so the doctor was called again. She said to him, "If the eye is no better in the morning, I shall call a consultation of doctors." The doctor said he was willing, for he could not understand why the medicine did not do its work. He gave me a tablet, and said if I were no better in half an hour to take another. I was no better, but did not take another tablet. Instead, I asked my husband to telephone to a Christian Science practitioner and ask her to help me, as I was through with material remedies. In a short time I went to sleep. I slept the rest of the night, and in the morning awoke free from pain, for which I was very thankful,—not only for the relief from pain, but also for the proof that God is the only healer.
