Impelled by gratitude and a sense of duty to my suffering fellow-men I wish to testify to the wonderful healing, through Christian Science, from the results of an accident which occurred in 1921.

One day in the city park our then twelve-year-old son, while on his way home from school, met a driver, whom he knew by sight, with his two-horse wagon. The boy asked if he could ride with him a part of the way. The driver gladly assented, but while the boy was climbing up to the seat the horses suddenly started. The brakes did not work, and our child fell under the wagon between the horses and the front wheels. The vehicle was loaded with several hundredweight of potatoes. One front and one rear wheel passed over the boy's knees. The driver jumped down, picked up the boy, and drove him to his home, where his mother received him. I myself was still on duty. My wife put the child to bed, and while undressing him noticed that both legs were badly bruised, also that the bones at the knee of the left leg protruded to the side.

My wife, who had been in Christian Science for about six months, commenced to work mentally, but soon felt she needed help, and asked a practitioner for treatment. When the lady arrived, the severe pain at once stopped; and on the following day the wounds closed without any material remedies having been applied. The left leg, however, remained bent, and so stiff for a few days that the boy could shift it only by using both hands. Christian Science treatment was continued assiduously, and after about a week the child was able to leave the bed. The leg, however, remained bent. We feared that out boy had become a cripple. I commenced to doubt whether it was not my duty to consult a doctor, and my wife, too, lost confidence at times. Then I decided to attend the Christian Science church services, which my wife had been attending for about six months, and there I soon gained confident faith in the perfect healing of our child.
