Science and Health for the Blind

Announcement is made by the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy of the completion of the printing of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy in Revised Braille, Grade One and a Half, for the use of the blind.

Work upon this great undertaking has been in progress for the past eight months. Many problems were presented by the requirement that, in brailling the textbook, the regular ink-print edition be followed page for page and line for line, and that the lines be numbered on the right margin for reference use. This has been done, as far as it has been found practicable, so that throughout the volumes, with few exceptions, the words on any Braille line are made to correspond with the ink-print line in the textbook.

The first page in each volume contains a brief but comprehensive explanation of Revised Braille, Grade One and a Half, in raised Roman letters easily read by sight, and also the complete Revised Braille alphabet, together with punctuation marks, numerals, word and part-word signs, and compound signs. This page is intended to aid those who desire to learn to read Revised Braille, and will enable the sighted to assist those who are learning to read this system of type for the blind.
