Christian Scientists do not contend that God gives them...

Christian Scientists do not contend that God gives them what they want, but that He provides them with what they need. One who fosters the belief that poverty and evil are as real as good has not yet touched the hem of the garment of Christianity, and is not qualified to criticize a system which has proved effective for more than half a century. The Christian Scientist knows what constitutes true charity, and can say with Paul that, though he gives all that he has, even his body to be burned, and has not love, it is as "sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal." Besides giving liberally of his material substance, he gives a loving thought, a kindly word, and a smile with it. He knows that good is universal and for all mankind, and that in proportion to his giving will he receive.

The Christian Scientist is a law-abiding citizen and is not an "obstruction to public health measures." On the other hand, he protects many who would otherwise become infected by communicable disease, by advising them to be obedient to health measures and sanitary rules. In addition to this, the Christian Scientist appeals to the gospel to save him, and thus, by his right thinking, destroys fear.

Jesus said, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: ... but to fulfil." Christian Science is proving beyond the shadow of a doubt that, as Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 468), "all is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all."
