[Written for the Sentinel]

Faith

Take me as a little child, I pray Thee;
Fold me in Thy all-protecting wings;
There, in perfect union with Thy spirit,
Do I feel the peace faith ever brings.

No more through the vale of doubt I wander
Seeking after gods to Thee unknown,
Finding them but fleeting human shadows;
All my faith is turned to Thee alone.

Now revealed in Thine own perfect likeness
By Thy true reflected light I see;
So with love and gratitude—full measure—
I in faith reflect but good from Thee.
