When a man says, "I will get even with that fellow," he convicts himself of being a moral pigmy. And as long as he maintains that frame of mind, he cuts himself off from God. "If ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." Jesus on the cross sets us the example: "Father, forgive them." We feel instinctively that he never showed a finer quality of manhood than in that supreme act of forgiveness. Moreover, he said, "If ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you."
