[Original testimony in French]

It is with a deep feeling of gratitude to God that I...

It is with a deep feeling of gratitude to God that I wish to testify as follows. Our baby, two years and a half old, leaned out of a window and fell in the open from the third story. In his fall, he struck a cornice and rebounded on to the railing of the balcony of the second story, and then on to the sidewalk. The poor child, picked up with a fractured skull, was taken immediately to the infirmary; but seeing the grave nature of the case, the doctor preferred to have him removed to the neighboring town, where, after consultation, the physicians declared the case hopeless.

My brother, who lived in Lausanne, and who had been told immediately of the accident, had the happy inspiration of proposing Christian Science. Not being able to leave my child, I begged him to find a practitioner. The practitioner gave immediate absent treatment, also comforted my brother by assuring him of divine Mind's omnipotence. My brother came to see me at the hospital to reassure me and impart confidence in the treatment, which had been given an hour before. The doctor, who had left us with very little hope, the next morning suggested that by trepanation he might be able to relieve the child. The first night my husband and I became more calm. The morning of the second day, the little one took some food and even asked for grapes. During the day he was radiographed; and the doctor said the top of the skull was sunken and there was a deep wound besides.

In the meantime we rejected the thought of the trepanation, and Christian Science treatment was continued. The fever disappeared, little by little; and the child drank, in one night, a quart of milk. On the sixth day, he expressed his desire to go home, and I felt that wisdom spoke by the mouth of the child. So, on the advice of the practitioner, we took him home that same day, in spite of the disapproval of the doctor and nurses. The trip was made in excellent condition: and on the night of our return home, the child's eyes opened for the first time. In the morning he recognized the members of the family. The practitioner kept on with her work, and great improvement was constantly evidenced. Twelve days after the accident, the child was sitting up at the table for his meals and was playing as before.
