Signs of the Times

[From "The Law of God" in the Sunday Budget, Troy, N. Y.]

Sunday evening a very learned man delivered a lecture on the subject "Christian Science—God's Law." The lecturer uttered some sentences, which should be carefully considered by every one, regardless of religious belief or opinion.

"The law of God is a law of life—not of death; a law of health —not of sickness; a law of abundance—not of lack and limitation; a law of peace—not of strife; a law of love—not of hate." These words convey the absolute truth in every respect and contain the principles of all the rational, decent, and necessary laws conceived and enacted by the human race. Our troubles, of every kind and nature, have developed from our violations of these principles, or through the making and enforcing of modifying and nullifying laws. The words are also an answer to the skepticism which blames God for the troubles and evils of life for which we, ourselves, are alone responsible.
