I have known of Christian Science from childhood and have experienced many blessings and healings through its aid. While at school I suffered considerably with corns on the soles of my feet. I had Science treatment for this condition; and one day, about three weeks later, suddenly realized I was not conscious of any pain from my feet. On examining them I found all trace of the corns had vanished, and I have never been troubled again.
It is only recently, however, that I have begun to study Christian Science more thoughtfully. For many years I was content to know of it, and reap the benefits of physical healings without questioning as to whether I was properly grateful. I drifted along when life went smoothly and sometimes found it most difficult to read the Lesson-Sermon. I used to feel, "Well, what is the use, there is nothing I can get out of it this week;" and I would leave it unread. But a recent experience has taught me that we must do our daily mental work, and that only thus shall we really progress in Christian Science. During the past year I was living under a sense of great mental strain. I also accepted false beliefs about nerves and fear of disease. This manifested itself on my body in weakness and strain, but through the loving help of a practitioner and that of my mother, who is a Christian Scientist, these conditions are fast vanishing, and I am realizing more clearly than ever before the true or real man as God's image and likeness.
I have proved many times that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494). I was obliged to leave college suddenly, a few years ago, and the thought of not having completed my full training made me wonder if this would hinder me from obtaining a suitable post, but I had only been home for a week when I received a good offer. And only recently my need was met in a similar way, so that I now have a position near home, which enables me to live with my parents.
