Words are inadequate to express my deep sense of gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. I took it up for physical healing, after four of the best physicians I could get had pronounced my case hopeless. I had been treated for several years for appendicitis, and every attack would be more severe than the previous one; and when I had the last one, they said nothing but an operation could save me. I felt that I could not live the way I was, and thought the sooner I got it over the better it would be. When the incision was made they found, not appendicitis, but what they pronounced a cancer. When they saw my condition they told my sister, and said, "If we go any farther she will not live, but if she does live we may be able to prolong her life a few months."

Well, I lived; and in a couple of months I was able to be up and walk around some—but not for long. I soon had to go to my bed again, and my suffering was intense; and I was becoming weaker every day. I had a friend come to see me, and she asked me if I would try Christian Science. I told her I would. She said she would write to a Christian Science practitioner for me, and would bring me the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I began taking treatments; and my healing was instantaneous. I had a fear that I would never be able to be useful again, so my greatest desire and prayer was that I would be able to work; and in six weeks after my healing, I was back at my usual employment. That was in 1914; and I have worked all the time, and have never taken a dose of medicine since.

I am truly grateful for Christian Science, grateful to our revered Leader for the spiritual understanding I have gained through her teachings of the healing power of Truth and Love. Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you."
