That the material body is the servant of thought, not partially, but wholly, has been proved repeatedly, and is being proved daily, even by doctors of medicine. This fact was definitely stated and proved two thousand years ago by Christ Jesus and others, as recounted in the Bible. But the healing work of Christian Science, like that of Christ Jesus, is not wrought by any mind-over-matter method. Since matter is effect, not cause, the only truly scientific method of healing disease must and does deal with the mental cause of disease. Therefore, Christian Science treatment is not only mental, but spiritual in both nature and method; for by Christian Science treatment, wrong thoughts, such as fear, anger, hatred, and other material beliefs, are antidoted, nullified, and eliminated from human consciousness by means of the activity of spiritual ideas, such as love, purity, peace, and confidence in God. This is obviously what Paul meant when he wrote to the Romans, "Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind."
